All the latest news and information

We have begun two new projects:

Rural Voice - locating groups in rural areas, linking them into the services that we provide, offering them support and advice, and giving them a 'voice' by finding out what are the issues that face them in rural areas and making sure that those issues are represented.  Contact Jane Mitchell our Rural Network Liaison Officer on 01947 605256 or 01723 362205 or at ruralvoice@coastandmoors.org .

Support for Families Project - will provide - through a team of Volunteers - low-level support to families in need of a 'Family Friend' to, for example, locate GPs, Dentists, Schools, Children's Centre, Customer First, Job Centre, Utility Services, etc., offer common sense safety in the home advice, or arrange payment of debts when a support plan is not in place.  Contact our Support for Families Project Co-ordinators - Sara Adams and Wendy Smith - on 01723 362205 or at supportforfamilies@coastandmoors.org

We still have reasonably priced and conveniently located office space available to be let at Allatt House, 5 West Parade Road, Scarborough.  Please contact Nick Scaife on 01947 602185 or email nick.scaife@coastandmoors.org if you wish to view the offices or would like further information.

One of the services we offer to our Members is the regular receipt of our Weekly News and Information (E-Alert) providing information of relevance on a number of topics including fund-raising, training, events and conferences, governance, and employment issues.  The Weekly News & Information is also distributed to a number of key stakeholders - Scarborough Borough Council, North Yorkshire County Council, the Primary Care Trust, North Yorkshire Forum for Voluntary Organisations, Yorkshire Coast Homes, Yorkshire Forward, Tees, Esk & Wear Valley NHS Mental Health Trust, Business Link, North Yorkshire Learning Consortium, Urban Renaissance, Crime Disorder Reduction Partnership - in order to keep them abreast with the many issues relevant to the Voluntary & Community Sector, and to encourage them to contribute to it. We believe that this has given the Weekly News a strategic focus.

An updated list of our Members is now available on the website.  Do please remember that if you were a Member and have not renewed you can download the Membership Form and send it to Richard Weightman.

It is now possible for us to offer Associate Membership to organisations such as statutory agencies, for-profit commercial companies, and organisations working outside the Borough of Scarborough.  The Associate Membership Form is also now available to download.  Again, please send it to Richard Weightman, or telephone him if you have any questions.

A few facts and figures may also help to give an inidcation of the scope of work undertaken by Coast & Moors Voluntary Action:

Remember that Membership gives an organisation a vote and a say in how Coast & Moors Voluntary Action is run, and access to a range of services, information and support, some of which - like the Weekly News & Information (E-Alert) - will only be available to Members.  It is, therefore, important that as we seek to support the whole sector we encourage more and more groups into Membership.  So, if you know of a group that is not currently a Member of Coast & Moors Voluntary Action, but which may benefit from becoming a Member, please do let us know.
